SEPTEMBER 25TH PDF Celebrates 30 Years of Working for Peace and Social Justice--Join Us!

This year's Peace Development Award will go to Rev. Dr. Andrea Ayvazian at our 30 Year Anniversary Celebration on September 25th. Rev. Ayvazian was the creator and first director of PDF's Exchange Project. She has been active in movements for social and political change since 1970.  An anti-racism educator, published poet, and singer/songwriter with three albums and CDs in circulation, Rev. Ayvazian has been living in the Pioneer Valley since 1980. She is now Senior Pastor of the Haydenville Congregational Church.

The Peace Development Fund will also celebrate its 30th Anniversary with a showing of “Passing the Torch to America’s Youth” at the Amherst Cinema on September 25th at 7:30 p.m.  Noted civil rights leader, Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr., who was recently seen in the PBS documentary, “Freedom Riders,” will speak about the film in which he is featured, how to encourage the next generation of youth leaders and the social justice movement. Dr. LaFayette has been a civil rights movement activist, minister, educator, lecturer, and is an authority on the strategy of nonviolent social change. He co-founded the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960.
