Passing the Torch to America's Youth

Peace Development Fund celebrates 30 years of peace and justice work with civil rights leader, Dr. Bernard LaFayette Jr, who is featured in this documentary.

A special screening of this film on September 25th at the Amherst Cinema will be followed by a Q&A with noted civil rights leader, Dr. Bernard LaFayette, Jr, an activist, minister, educator, lecturer and authority on the strategy of nonviolent social change. He co-founded the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) in 1960.  Dr. LaFayette was recently seen in the PBS documentary, “Freedom Riders.”   He will speak about “Passing the Torch,” how to encourage the next generation of youth leaders and his experience with the social justice movement. The evening will also include a presentation to honor Rev. Dr. Andrea Ayvazian with the Peace Development Award.
