Partnering for Change: Supporting LGBTQ+ Asylum Seekers with PDF Published on July 17, 2023

As an intern at the Peace Development Fund (PDF), I have been privileged to witness the unwavering dedication of PDF to the cause of social justice. Among the many pressing issues, we address is the need for LGBTQ+ rights among asylum seekers entering the United States. Several asylum rights organizations have received grant support from PDF in recent years. 

Every day, LGBTQ+ individuals around the world face persecution and violence simply for being themselves. For those who seek refuge within the borders of the United States, the journey to safety is often fraught with hardship and danger. Asylum seekers, particularly transgender and queer individuals, are exposed to increased risks, both during their journey and upon arrival.
