Seeding Change: Celebrating Earth Day with our 2024-2025 Grantees Published on April 22, 2024

This Earth Day, the Peace Development Fund is excited to highlight the exceptional initiatives of three grantees from our 2024-2025 Seeding the Movement Fund. Each of these organizations is pioneering transformative solutions to the urgent climate and social justice challenges we face globally.

Firstly, we celebrate the Global Center for Climate Justice, a multidisciplinary resource center dedicated to advancing a transformative and emancipatory climate justice politics. Their mission is to demonstrate how solutions to the climate crisis are inseparable from resolving broader social injustices. By tackling the root causes of these crises—namely, unjust power dynamics—they are leading the way towards deep structural reforms and systemic changes that promise a just and sustainable future for all.

Next, we recognize Fundacion Biosfera del Anahuac A.C., committed to preserving the biodiversity and ecosystem services of the Forest of Water. Their work is crucial in contributing to the water sustainability of local communities, Mexico City, and surrounding rural areas, proving how environmental stewardship and community support can and must go hand in hand.

Finally, we honor the Washington Fair Trade Coalition Education Fund. This coalition unites over 60 Washington-based labor, faith, environmental, farmer, and social justice groups. Together, they push for a fair, balanced, and sustainable global trading system that champions the needs of workers and the environment alike.

This Earth Day, let us draw inspiration from these grantees’ efforts which underscore the interconnectedness of our global community and the impact collective action can have in creating lasting change. The Peace Development Fund remains committed to supporting these changemakers who are not only envisioning a better world but are also actively constructing it.
